The Civic Foundation, an independent, nonpartisan government research organization working to maximize the quality and the quality and cost-effectiveness of government services in the Chicago region and State of Illinois, named Columbus tops among major U.S. cities in indicators of fiscal condition. The Civic Foundation compared 12 major American cities using financial indicators compiled from the most recent audited financial statements over a five-year period.  Columbus ranked first, followed by, in order: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Baltimore, Houston, New York, Chicago, Boston and Detroit.
