Cleveland Ave and 270 Construction Closures

Crews will begin to demolish the Cleveland Avenue bridge over I-270 tonight March 23.  The Ohio Department of Transportation will ask motorists to use the ramps at the interchange to safely proceed around the demolition work.

The new traffic pattern at Cleveland Avenue and I-270 starting tonight will impact drivers for most of the week, weather permitting.   As the bridge is being demolished, I-270 will close one direction at a time each night. Drivers on I-270 will exit at Cleveland Avenue, proceed through the traffic light and take the entrance ramp to get back on I-270. 

Cleveland Avenue will remain open.

The bridge demolition work is expected to be completed by Thursday night, weather permitting.

The schedule for the demolition is as follows:

Tonight:
7 p.m.: Ramp from northbound Cleveland Avenue to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be:

1. Northbound Cleveland Avenue to Schrock Road, turn left onto westbound Schrock Road
2. Continue on Schrock Road to Busch Boulevard and turn left onto southbound Busch Boulevard
3. Continue on Busch Boulevard to S.R. 161 and turn left onto eastbound S.R. 161
4. Continue on S.R. 161 to I-71 and turn left onto northbound I-71
5. Continue on I-71 to I-270, then proceed onto westbound I-270

8 p.m.: Eastbound I-270 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between S.R . 3 and I-71.

10 p.m.: Eastbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane and all lanes of westbound I-270 under Cleveland Avenue will close. Traffic will exit at Cleveland Avenue, and at Cleveland Avenue, continue straight through the intersection onto the entrance ramp to return to westbound I-270.

Also at 10 p.m.: The ramp from S.R. 3 to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be southbound S.R. 3 to westbound S.R. 161, then continue on westbound S.R. 161 and enter northbound I-71.  Take northbound I-71 to westbound I-270.

5 a.m. Tuesday March 24: All lanes and ramps will be open.

Tuesday, March 24
7 p.m.: Ramp from southbound Cleveland Avenue to eastbound I-270 will close. The detour will be:

1. Southbound Cleveland Avenue to S.R. 161, then turn left onto eastbound S.R. 161
2. Continue on S.R. 161 to S.R. 3, then turn left onto northbound S.R. 3
3. Continue on S.R. 3 to I-270, then proceed onto eastbound I-270

8 p.m.: I-270 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between S.R. 3 and I-71.

10 p.m.: Westbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane, and all lanes of eastbound I-270 under Cleveland Avenue will close. Traffic will exit at Cleveland, go straight at the light and re-enter eastbound I-270.

Also at 10 p.m.: Ramp from northbound I-71 to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be northbound I-71 to Polaris Parkway.  On Polaris Parkway, enter southbound I-71 and continue on I-71 southbound to eastbound I-270.

5 a.m.  Wednesday: All lanes and ramps will be open.

Wednesday, March 25
7 p.m.: Ramp from northbound Cleveland Avenue to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be:

1. Northbound Cleveland Avenue north to Schrock Road, then turn left onto westbound Schrock Road
2. Continue on Schrock Road to Busch Boulevard, turn left onto southbound Busch Boulevard
3. Continue on Busch Boulevard to S.R. 161, turn left onto eastbound S.R. 161
4. Continue on S.R. 161 to I-71, then turn left onto northbound I-71
5. Continue on northbound I-71 to I-270, then proceed onto westbound I-270

8 p.m.: I-270 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between S.R. 3 and I-71.

10 p.m.: Eastbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane and all lanes of westbound I-270 under Cleveland Avenue will close. Traffic will have to exit at Cleveland Avenue, go straight at the traffic light and re-enter westbound I-270.

Also at 10 p.m.: The ramp from S.R. 3 to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be southbound S.R. 3 to westbound S.R. 161.  Continue on westbound S.R. 161 to I-71.  Then take northbound I-71 to westbound I-270.

5 a.m.  Thursday, March 26: All lanes and ramps will be open.

Thursday, March 26
7 p.m.: Ramp from southbound Cleveland Avenue to eastbound I-270 east will close. The detour will be:

1. Southbound Cleveland Avenue to S.R. 161, then turn left onto eastbound S.R. 161
2. Continue on S.R. 161 to S.R. 3, then turn left onto northbound S.R. 3
3. Continue on S.R. 3 to I-270, then proceed onto eastbound I-270

8 p.m.: I-270 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between S.R. 3 and I-71.

10 p.m.: Westbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane and all lanes of eastbound I-270 under Cleveland Avenue will close. Traffic will have to exit at Cleveland Avenue, go straight at the traffic light and re-enter eastbound I-270.

Also at 10 p.m.: Ramp from northbound I-71 to westbound I-270 will close. The detour will be northbound I-71 to Polaris Parkway.  Turn left onto Polaris Parkway, then from  Polaris Parkway take southbound I-71 eastbound I-270.

5 a.m.  Friday, March 27: All lanes and ramps will be open.
