During your fall gardening and yard work, you may already be thinning your bulbs, hostas, and other perennial plants.

Rather than throw the extras in the compost heap, consider planting them in one of the traffic islands around the neighborhood to help with beautification. Some of our islands don’t have many plants to begin with, and others take a beating from the road salt in the winter and need replenished.
